Frederick B. Warde (1851-1935) was a actor who first appeared on stage in a minor part in at the Lyceum Theatre in Sunderland, England in 1867. He went on to perform in successive seasons at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow, the Amphitheatre in Leeds, and the Princess Theatre in Manchester. He came to the U.S. in 1874 and became a leading man in Booth's Theatre in New York where he starred in many of the great tragedies. Warde was also a lecturer on Shakespeare and other subjects. The collection consists of 4 volumes of prompt books with mounted text, clippings, and photographs of Warde and other actors of the period. Macbeth
